Book Cover Notes

Eighteen months ago, Sophia Jones finally walked out on her unhappy life.

With a tricky divorce ongoing, money is tight and so when friends offer her a housekeeping job while they’re away travelling, she accepts.

Nate McKinley is hesitant when his brother, Gabe, offers him the use of their home in the picturesque village of Wishington Bay. But he has a book to a write and an imploded marriage to recover from, so maybe a change of scene is exactly what he needs.

As Wishington Bay works its magic, friendship blossoms between Sophia and Nate. For Nate, finally feeling able to be himself with someone who is honest and down to earth is a revelation.

But Sophia has a secret and a jealous colleague is determined to blow her cover. Can she really keep her old life in the past or is it destined to destroy this new, happy one too?

Take a trip back to Wishington Bay this winter and find out…

A deliciously heart-warming and romantic read, perfect for a cosy winter’s evening, from the author of the bestselling Winter’s Fairytale.

My Thoughts

This is a story about broken hearts and second chance romance. We’re introduced to Sophia and Nate who find themselves in Wishington Bay to get away from difficult relationships.

With low funds, Sophia takes a job as a cleaner in a beautiful large home. Whilst the owners are away, brother Nate arrives to house sit and focus on writing his next book. Sophia’s first encounter with Nate is funny but humiliating for poor Sophia. She soon gets cross with the rather rude and prickly new house guest.

Thankfully the adorable Bryan, the resident dachshund, soon thaws out the chilly situation. Bryan’s bouncy, playful nature and excitement at lots of fun walks soon has Sophia and Nate talking again. A new friendship soon forms and a mutual understand and empathy for how the other is feeling about life after a break-up.

Then, just as life begins to have meaning again, along comes Corrine. A young, spoilt and bored waitress who takes a fancy to Nate. Corrine’s character was so annoying, so mean but she added so much to this story. Stirring up a hornet’s nest of trouble due to her jealous, devious meddling. Corrine uncovers and shares secrets that amaze the whole village. And then things get a little crazy in what was quiet, sleepy Wishington Bay.

Summary

A heart-warming romance with an interesting twist. I enjoyed the book more as I started to pick up clues on the drama unfolding. The subtle hints at the past lives of the main characters, the secrets they were not yet ready to share.

I haven’t read books by this author before. I found the relaxed style of writing enjoyable, funny and easy to read. I loved Sophia’s character and her friendship with the lovely Flora. If you enjoy feel-good romance stories then this is definitely one for you to snuggle up on the sofa with this winter.

Oh, and please can Bryan come and live with me and my two Spaniels? He’s so adorable!
