Weekly Book List for book fans

Five Things Friday [#7]

Happy Friday everyone, hope you’re all safe and well and you’ve had a productive reading week. So as it’s Friday, here’s my Five Things Friday list to tempt you with something bookish for the weekend.

ONE

New on my TBR List

Last week I was delighted to meet (via zoom) a local author here in Wiltshire. Debi Evans is the author of 5 children’s books, sharing her dog Rolo’s adventures, whilst teaching a little bit of a history along the way. Debi and Rolo have kindly sent me their books to review, so Book 1 is now on the top of my TBR list.

World Book Day: Is coming up next week (4th March). Why not treat your children / grandchildren to Book 1 of The Secret Adventures of Rolo dog.

You can find out more about Rolo’s Adventure Books on Debi’s website and order books directly from Debi’s website. You can also join Debi & Rolo on Facebook for their daily LIVE reading time, where they share an adventure from one of their books.

Look out for more from Debi and Rolo here on Touring Tales Book Blog soon, including my book review of Book 1 as well as a Q&A chat with Debi.

TWO
What I’ve been reading

Over the weekend I read The Dog Share by Fiona Gibson. Such as lovely, feel-good story ‘pawfect’ to snuggle up with on a wet & windy weekend. Here’s my book review for the Book Launch Day 4th March 2021. I’ve also shared the book cover notes below, why not treat yourself, pre-order your copy now.

Book Cover Notes

Suzy Medley is having a bad day…

… when a shabby terrier turns up at her door. Just like Suzy, Scout has been abandoned, although only Suzy has been left with a financial mess and a business in tatters thanks to her ex.

Suzy takes Scout in and her chaotic world changes in unexpected ways: strangers have never been more welcoming and her teenage kids can’t wait to come home to visit.

Then a chance encounter on a windy Hebridean beach makes things more complicated, because Suzy isn’t the only one who needs a friend.

Scout has plenty of love to go round… but does Suzy?

THREE

What I’ve been Listening To

Anyone else missing meeting friends in coffee shops? I certainly am. Hopefully it won’t be long now before we can safely visit our favourite coffee/tea shops again. In the meantime, how about listening to ambient coffee shop sounds whilst you snuggle in and read?

I came across examples of Books & Coffee Shop Sounds on You Tube. I’ve really enjoyed this playing as background sounds this week as I’ve worked on my book blog posts. There’s even the clink of coffee cups and the coffee machine steamer 🙂

Photo Of The Week

Just for fun… Types of Reader – Which one(s) are you?

I have to admit I’m ‘Buys for the pretty cover‘. I know, I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover BUT some are soooooo pretty right? 🙂

Share in the comments below, which one(s) you think you are.

What’s been happening at Touring Tales

Work continues in setting up my local Book Club. We have 13 book lovers wanting to join the group which is great. We didn’t want to go over 15 otherwise it’ll be difficult for everyone to have their say in time during the meet-up. A Facebook Group has been set up and I’m now looking into our first book to read in March. Going forward we’ll then all nominate a book and pull one out of a hat as a new book for each month. Exciting!

QOTD: Are you in a book club? If so, do you have any tips or tricks for running a successful book club? I’d love to hear what works well in your club, share in the comments below.

Weekly round-up: Here are the Touring Tales book blog posts published this week just incase you missed them:

  • 90 Days Experience of The Wim Hof Method – DT’s latest post
  • 52 Weeks of Writing – Author Journal & Planner – Marielle S Smith kindly shared an Extract from Week 1 of her new book (Book Launch & Blog Tour)

Facebook: Come and say hi over on our Facebook page. Hit the ‘Follow’ button on the Touring Tales Books page so that you can keep up to date on any new book reviews, author Q&As, book samples and bookish blog posts.

Q: What are you reading this weekend? Share in the comments below one or more of your own Five Things Friday. I’d love to hear them.

Have a fabulous weekend. Happy reading.
