Crikey, I can’t believe it’s Friday again already! Well, that means it must be time for my weekly Five Things Friday book list. So what can I tempt you with for the weekend.
ONE
New on my TBR List
I was kindly send a copy of Stealing The Spanish Princess by Bea Green this week. I’m supporting Bea’s book blog tour in May so I’m looking forward to reading and reviewing this book shortly. Below are the book notes and links in case you fancy ordering a copy and reading along with me in April.
Book Cover Notes
In this captivating and dazzling art crime mystery, eccentric detective Richard Langley hunts for a 16th-century masterpiece by the artist El Greco. The thief stole the priceless painting from an apartment in Kensington, London, and in the process knifed to death a Russian woman.
DCI Richard Langley from Scotland Yard’s Art and Antiquities Unit joins colleagues from Homicide as they pursue a trail that leads them to St Petersburg and then to Madrid. Following closely in their footsteps is a maverick private investigator hired by the painting’s owner. Knowing how hard it is to sell on stolen artworks of that calibre, Richard wonders what the motive behind its theft might be. The answer, when it comes, takes everyone by surprise.

What I’ve been reading
Oh my lordy, I’m reading a page turner of a book this week. The Hoax by Paul Clayton, released on the 1st April 2021. I’m absolutely loving this book. A psychological thriller, which I’m finding quite addictive. I’m supporting the Blog Tour next week, so watch out for my full review of this one on Tuesday 6th April. In the meantime, here’s the book blurb.
Book Cover Notes

Henry returns safely accompanied by a stranger, Cora, a fairy godmother who starts to change the Baxter family’s lives in the best of ways. So why do things suddenly start going wrong? Is Cora fulfilling their dreams – or is she the start of a nightmare?
Funny, terrifying and a real page-turner, The Hoax puts a whole new slant on psychological thrillers…

What I’ve been Watching
This week I needed a little bit of light entertainment so I turned to an old favourite watch of mine. Miss Potter, starring Renée Zellweger, Ewan McGregor, Emily Watson. Miss Potter explores the life Beatrix Potter the author of the bestselling children’s books including The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Potter struggles to overcome the domineering and unsupportive mother and the attitudes of Victorian England to become a published author.

What’s been happening at Touring Tales
Finally on this weeks Five Things Friday Book List:
Offline: We’ve had a busy week again. The main focus has been on decorating our living room. Over the Easter weekend we’ll be tackling the dining room so that by early next week we should have a fresh, clean and bright downstairs again yay. It’s hard work but I always love the end result of a transformed room that. We’re also ordering two Queen Anne wing back chairs, which I cannot wait to snuggle in with my book reading.
Great news this week, after a lot of time wasting, chasing around and mild stress my dad’s house move is back on track. Moving day is next Friday 9th April. That means as well as decorating the dining room, I have a few days to get ahead on my book blog planning and scheduling as I won’t be online for a couple of days as we lug furniture, house clean and settle dad into his fab new bungalow.
Online: Well this week has seen a great mix of Book Reviews, Guest Posts and Author Interviews. What a fun week, I really enjoyed chatting with Dan Scottow about his new book released this week. I’m also helping to promote a young author with her novelette book, a take on a ghost story and The Christmas Carol. I’ve also shared a book review of a lovely children’s book series by a local author. Oh and as we move into April this week I’ve shared my top picks of April book releases that I think you might like. Links below to all my latest book blog posts.
Also this week, I held my first online book club meeting with my new local group. We chatted about our first book read The Girl On The Beach. We all agreed it was an OK book, but the title didn’t fit the book. We clearly have some good readers / proofreaders in my group as they spotted a few grammatical errors as well as character placement errors, clever lot. I can see I’m going to learn a lot from my new book friends, I really enjoyed the social chat afterwards too. Hopefully we’ll be able to meet in person later this year when we feel safe to do so.
Weekly round-up: Here are the Touring Tales book blog posts published this week just incase you missed them:
- The Secret Adventures of Rolo – A delightful children’s book by Debi Evans. Read my book review.
- Guest Post: Young Author Ashley Amber – Ashley takes over the Touring Tales Book Blog for the day
- Author Q&A: Dan Scottow – Psychological Thriller Girl A is released this week, read my author interview to find out more.
Now over to you
